Orange Teriyaki Chicken

As I always mention I'm a huge fan of Japanese cuisine, as a matter of fact, Japanese food is top three in my heart (you know for sure whose the first an+d second )

So today I will share another savoury dish and this is one of the most popular in Asia and other parts of the world as well.

Let's start to make this Orange Teriyaki Chicken!

DESCRIPTION
The Teriyaki Chicken we are going to make is orange flavor. We are making a traditional Japanese recipe.
In classic version, we don't need garlic and ginger, and no need to marinate the chicken,
you will be surprised to know that this dish is truly simple and easy to do.
INGREDIENTS
For the sauce:
20g soy sauce
30g white wine/ Japanese sake
20-25g sugar
1 orange (50g fresh orange juice)

For the chicken:
3-4 boneless chicken thighs
salt
1teaspoon of oil (optional)
use nonstick pan
PREPARATION
Step 1
Before cooking let's salt the chicken and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. In this recipe, I'm using boneless chicken thighs because it's juicier compared to the breast part.

Step 2
Using a nonstick pan, heat the pan over medium heat. Put a little bit of oil about 1 teaspoon, but this is optional you can skip it if you want. We don't need to add oil to a pan because if the chicken is too oily the teriyaki sauce won't stick to your chicken.

Step 3
Put the chicken in the heated pan skin side down. Brown them for 10 minutes or until you get crunchy skin.

Step 4
Meanwhile, let's prepare the sauce. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Stir to dissolve the sugar and set aside.

Step 5
Let's go back to our chicken. Turn them to the other side and continue to cook for about 2-4 minutes.
Before adding the sauce cover the pan with a lid and steam the chicken for 30 seconds or 1 minute. This allows the chicken to cook through.
uncover the pan, and remove the excess oil or fats. Pat dry with kitchen paper if necessary.

Step 6
Into the pan pour the sauce and put back the chicken. Over low-medium heat let the sauce reduce or until the sauce thickens or is perfectly caramelized.

Step 7
Place the chicken on the cutting board, skin side up. Cut the chicken and place it on the serving plate. Pour the orange teriyaki sauce over the chicken.
Serve hot with vegetables on the side or with rice. Itadakismasu!
TIPS AND TRICKS
Before pouring the sauce make sure to wipe away the excess oil, this will allow the sauce to stick better to the cooked chicken.
